Supplementing the study abroad experience in Buenos Aires

At Expanish, we believe that all study abroad experiences should combine a student's university studies with genuine cultural and language experiences in order for students to truly benefit from their time abroad. Our Expanish activities for summer study abroad students in Argentina are designed to convert the city attractions, plazas, museums, and streets into "outdoor" classrooms, where students have the opportunity to immerse themselves into the language, culture, and lifestyle of the city and its people.

Study abroad student activities are offered every day of the week in order to enrich the student experience without interfering with their academic coursework. Coordination of our cultural activities is included in each summer study abroad student’s program, and activities are offered for free or at an affordable cost.

In order to ensure that every study abroad students experience is as successful as possible, our study staff is always around to answer any questions or concerns that students may have about the activities, costs, culture, or anything else.

Study Abroad Student Workshops in Buenos Aires

Expanish has partnered with various venues throughout Buenos Aires in order to offer study abroad students special skill workshops, providing students with another opportunity to enjoy other cultural activities in Buenos Aires. Students will not only learn new skills but will also have the chance to practice their Spanish skills with other locals and students.

Workshops are made up of 2, 4, or 8 classes. All workshops in Buenos Aires can be reserved and paid for before hand, either before or after a students’ arrival in Buenos Aires. Please Contact Us for more details.

Tango (Dancing)

The sultry and sophisticated tango is Argentina’s national dance and a must learn for anyone on a study abroad program in Buenos Airs. Classes are available for first-time dancers up to accomplished performers; all dance skill levels are welcome. Combining formal instruction with dance floor practice, our experienced professor teaches students about both traditional steps as well as the latest improvisational techniques.

Fileteado painting

Originating in Buenos Aires, Fileteado painting is a popular and decorative art that is characterized by intense colors, painted to give the appearance of three dimensions by utilizing shadowing techniques. Dragons, birds, flowers, ribbons, and phrases are typical elements incorporated in the Fileateado painting, in combination with popular images and symbolic characters from Argentina.

Polo

Where else could be better to learn polo than the country that is famous around the world for its polo teams and international competitions. Students will spend a full day at a local estancia (traditional Argentine ranch), taking polo classes in the morning and afternoon, feasting on an asado (Argentine barbeque) at midday, and later going horseback riding or watching a polo game. Students may also choose to stay the night at the estancia.
