Financial Aid
Financial aid may be available to eligible students. Grants, loans, and scholarships may be used to help pay program expenses. Students must apply for financial aid through San Diego City College. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed, including the San Diego City College School code of 001273, in order for a student to be evaluated. The typical response time for paper FAFSA's is 6 to 8 weeks; 2-4 weeks for online FAFSA's. To apply online, you must have a Pin# for yourself and, if a dependent student, a Pin# also for your parent. It could take up to 1 week to get a Pin#. Fall 2010 financial aid applications are available now. All accredited college credits from other institutions must be posted as official academic transcripts with:
San Diego Community College District
Records Office
3375 Camino del Rio South
San Diego, CA 92108-3883
Once FAFSA's are received by the school, students will be notified of the documents required to complete the review process for Fall 2010. Notices will be sent out by the school beginning May 2010. The academic performance of students will be reviewed in June 2010 and notifications of the need to Appeal will be sent out by July 2010. Students need to have an official Education Plan on the system from an academic counselor for the appeal process. Any student interested in using Loan funds, can be ready for the process by making sure they complete the Entrance Interview for a Loan, if they have not already done so: http://www.dlssonline.com/entrancecounseling/main-entc.asp .
Please consult with the appropriate financial aid technician based on the first letter of your last name at 619.388.3501 if you are unsure of your dependency status or have any other filing questions.
