Housing
Accommodation is very important in any study abroad experience
Expanish recognizes housing accommodations as one of the most important elements in any study abroad experience.
Expanish strives to maintain a well-established network of comfortable apartments and suitable family homes in Buenos Aires' best neighborhoods. A member of our Expanish staff personally visits each student accommodation to ensure the continuous quality of our student housing providers.
What Expanish Looks for in Each Student Accommodation:
Study abroad student accommodations in Buenos Aires include a private room for each individual student and at least one native Spanish-speaker living in each homestay or shared apartment. Our goal for all students living with a local host family or young Argentine and international roomates is that they enjoy this unique advantage local hosts provide. Host families and local roommates are a first hand resource for students to learn about life in Buenos Aires, practice their Spanish in a domestic setting, and integrate themselves into their hosts' social networks.
Both of these types of student accommodations in Buenos Aires is screened for cleanliness, range of amenities, distance from a students' program university, and any special student requests, such as those stemming from dietary needs, allergies, pets, smoking, etc. We do our best to meet the needs of each of our students in providing them with accommodations that provide safety and comfort and serves to enrich their experience with us abroad.
Overview of Student Housing in Buenos Aires:
Homestay
The family homestay option is the ideal fit for students looking for frequent interaction with local Argentines and who want to experience the host family's daily life and customs first hand. The Argentine host families are intimately familiar with their home city of Buenos Aires and can provide detailed insight into porteño (resident of Buenos Aires ) culture, and greatly enhance the student's cultural immersion experience. The characteristics of our host families vary from señoras living by themselves to young married couples with children to single parents with college students. All local families, including their living conditions, are screened to ensure a safe and comfortable environment. In homestays, students join the family for meals twice a day. We at Expanish believe the family homestay to be the best option for those truly seeking to advance their Spanish speaking skills and understand the culture of Buenos Aires and Argentina and how life is lived here.
Shared Apartment
The shared apartment option suits independent study abroad students looking to live with young native Spanish speakers in Buenos Aires. These individuals are well acquainted with the city and its porteño culture, and provide an excellent resource for facilitating the student's immersion in Buenos Aires. Students that come to Argentina may have anywhere from one to eight roommates. The other roommates are students or young professionals living, working, and/or studying in Buenos Aires and are generally between the ages of 20-32. When living in a shared apartment, students enjoy more freedom as well as additional responsibility. Students must cook their own meals and clean up after themselves.
