Financial Aid Information for Study Abroad Programs in Argentina
Our study abroad staff at Expanish works along closely with advisors from our prospective student's home institutions in order to have financial aid transferred from those home institutions to student's future study abroad programs in Argentina.
Financial aid is unique to every country, for example, students from the United States are federally eligible to receive aid from their university, whether or not that program is a required part of their degree and they are also eligible to receive funding for more than just their tuition costs, including expenses such as travel and housing. Our goal is to work along with advisors in order to make all of our study abroad programs in Argentina realistic for all students.
Study Abroad in Argentina - Financial Aid Transfer for the United States
Please note that the following procedure is for students applying for a study abroad program in Buenos Aires, who are US citizens and living in the United States.
Contact Us if you are an academic advisor from a different country and need assistance with determining the process for a financial aid transfer.
Advisors from the United States: The steps below are those which study abroad students must take when ordering the transfer of financial aid from their home institution to their study abroad program in Argentina.
- The study abroad student must apply for financial aid from their home university by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and other appropriate home institution documents.
- Students must make an appointment to speak with their advisor in the Financial Aid Department in order to determine if their financial aid will transfer to Expanish programs. (NOTE: Advisors should inform students to first confirm that transfer of credits back to their home institution is possible, as this oftentimes determines study abroad financial eligibility).
- If a Financial Aid Department allows study abroad financial aid transfers, students will generally need to turn in a program approval letter from Expanish which their family will receive once the student turns in their completed application and additional documents, as well as a form generally known as a "consortium agreement" that they will need to ask for from the Financial Aid Department. Students must fill out the applicable portions of this form and then must contact their Expanish student advisor so that Expanish can complete the rest of the form, in order to determine the student's costs for their time abroad and how much aid should be disbursed.
- We inform out students that once they have turned in all of their documents, they will receive news from their advisor (the Financial Aid Department) about the amount of their aid award. Advisors, please inform your students that they must follow the instructions to accept the aid as soon as possible and turn in any remaining paperwork.
- Once the aid has been accepted and approved, the student must fill out the appropriate acceptance paperwork as directed by the advisor from Financial Aid.
- Advisors must give students a written consent for the aid, so that students can turn that into to Expanish upon admission approval [no later than sixty (60) days before program start date], and to ensure the balance is paid in full by thirty (30) days before program start date.
If advisors have any questions or concerns about this process, please contact our University Staff (university@expanish.com). Advisors should be aware that Expanish considers the final decision regarding financial packages to be at the final word of the home institution.
