 Overview
Buenos Aires, one of the biggest cities in Latin America, is truly vibrant in the months of May through August with activities; students in our summer program in Argentina can look forward to cultural events during the mild winter months here in the Southern Hemisphere, and a city abuzz with activity during the regular semester term of local Argentine students. Every year this internationally acclaimed city draws in visitors from around the world to discover its culture, cuisine, city sights, and world famous art, music, shopping, and nightlife.
Students from the Northern Hemisphere taking their summer abroad in Argentina are invited to study at one of two private universities that Expanish has partnered with, depending on their subject of interest (Spanish language, or Latin American Studies). Each university is known for its high quality education and its international student base. Alongside the summer program in Buenos Aires students will have ample time to explore the city, learn about its history and culture, and to take excursions to discover other beautiful parts of Argentina. The people of Argentina are characterized by their warmth, sincerity, and kindness and students will find that they will be encouraged to speak Spanish whenever they can.

Courses & Program Details
On the Expanish Summer Programs in Buenos Aires, students can focus solely on intensive Spanish language acquisition, or split their time between a Spanish language course and two courses related to their specific areas of interest.

Eligibility
Any person of any age or nationality wanting to take a summer program in Argentina is eligible to apply. If a current undergraduate, U.S students are required to have a minimum accumulative 2.5 GPA, and students of all other nationalities can submit their course marks to be evaluated on a similar scale.

Housing
At Expanish, our goal is to offer students the very best accommodation options possible during their summer program in Buenos Aires. We have a well-established network of secure apartments and family homes throughout some of the best and safest neighborhoods.
All students in a summer program in Buenos Aires that will be living with a local host family or local young people will be able to use their hosts as resources about life in Buenos Aires and the Spanish language, as well as become involved in their hosts’ social networks. As such, an Expanish summer program in Argentina becomes a complete language and cultural immersion experience.

Volunteer
Students enrolled in a summer program in Buenos Aires can supplement their program with a local volunteer placement to create a total study abroad experience. Expanish offers students several organizations to choose from that include volunteer activities such as community development and education, marketing, and project and program development, and assistance in teaching English.
This is a great way for students that are enrolled in a summer program in Buenos Aires to improve their Spanish through direct interaction and to give back to the community in which they are immersed.

Intern
For students enrolled in a summer program in Buenos Aires for seven weeks or more, Expanish offers the opportunity to combine the university program with a local internship. Internships are a great opportunity for students to combine their studies with work experience, cultural immersion, and Spanish language practice. We make sure that each internship is chosen based on its proximity to the student’s studies, interests, and qualifications.
Students in a summer program in Buenos Aires who choose to take an internship are required to have a high-intermediate level of Spanish and to pay a one time placement fee.

Activities & Workshops
Students in a summer program in Buenos Aires will be able to take part in our weekly activities and workshops offered through Expanish. All of our activities and workshops combine student learning with cultural immersion and encourage students to practice Spanish, to travel, and to interact with locals and with foreigners from around the globe. Combining a summer program in Argentina with our activities and workshops creates a total study and travel abroad experience that students will not soon forget.
Activities: Expanish offers activities 4-5 days out of each week, always starting in either the afternoons or evenings so that students have sufficient time for their studies and coursework. Activities for students in our summer program in Buenos Aires are most often free of charge or at a low cost, such as entrance or meal costs. Students enrolled in our summer program in Argentina have the opportunity to enjoy the following activities: weekly staff and student dinners; weekly fútbol games; day trips to Tigre; local concerts; asados (Argentine barbeque); tango shows and classes; museum and exhibit visits; artisan fairs; weekly cultural city tours.
Workshops: Students in our summer program in Argentina have a variety of workshops to choose from: cooking classes, wine tasting, tango classes, polo classes, photography, and fileteado painting. Each workshop comes in packages of 2, 4, or 8 classes and can be reserved upon arrival. Workshops are an important supplement in any study abroad program, in order to teach students about the culture and language in Argentina as well as providing direct interaction with locals and other foreigners.

We offer university group excursions from Buenos Aires specifically for students on our programs, and an Expanish trip coordinator goes on each of these trips to offer an insider's perspective and a knowledgeable answer to any question students have along the way.

Host Universities
Universidad de Belgrano
The Universidad of Belgrano, founded in 1964, has a uniquely long tradition of providing higher education in Buenos Aires and being one of the most prestigious universities in Argentina. The UB offers a wide range of Spanish levels for Expanish students on Summer programs in Argentina, all instructed by native Spanish speakers and most having years of experience teaching students who speak Spanish as a second language. Students taking a summer program in Buenos Aires will have access to the university library, bookstore, study areas, restaurants, computer labs, athletic events, and cultural activities. The UB is located in the beautiful and safe neighborhood of Buenos Aires. Here students in a study abroad summer in Buenos Aires will find cafes, restaurants, and shops, as well as be able to access other areas of the city like Recoleta, Palermo, and downtown.
Universidad Austral
One of the principal institutions of higher education and a popular choice among students in a summer program in Buenos Aires, the Universidad Austral is a small private university specializing in offering small and individualized classes with an emphasis on participation. Students in a summer program in Buenos Aires will find something new at Austral; all courses incorporate new technological mediums into teaching methods as well as boast practical learning where students learn through seeing, doing, and critical analysis of the two. Students in a study abroad summer in Buenos Aires will be encouraged by Austral to actively participate in the community and make societal contributions with their peers. Students have access to a library, computer labs, internet access, and a cafeteria and snack bar. Expanish puts a strong emphasis on providing students who wish to take a summer program in Argentina with the opportunity to study at a few local Argentine universities. Apply
Application deadlines are sixty (60) days before program start date for all summer study abroad in Buenos Aires. Applications received between sixty (60) days and seven (7) days before Summer Program in Buenos Aires start dates will be evaluated on a case-by case basis. Submissions will not be accepted less than seven (7) days before the Summer Program in Buenos Aires start dates.
