Expanish provides a unique cultural immersion program for Spanish language studies during the fall and spring semesters; during fall, winter and spring quarters on a quarter abroad in Argentina; and short term studies, including January term in Argentina and Maymester in Argentina. Students attend the Universidad de Belgrano, a prominent private university in Buenos Aires, located in the illustrious and safe neighborhood of Belgrano. Students can study for 4, 10, or 13-14 weeks and take Spanish language courses in Buenos Aires with students from around the world. |

 Overview
Buenos Aires, one of the largest Spanish speaking cities in Latin America, is also the perfect destination for students who want to take a semester or quarter abroad in Argentina, a January term in Argentina, or a Maymester in Argentina in an acclaimed private university while exploring everything that makes up this diverse country. Throughout the entire year this cosmopolitan city draws in visitors that come to discover its exquisite cuisine, historical sights, amazing architecture, trendy cafes and restaurants, international shopping, arts and music, and world famous polo and fútbol.
For university students who wish to study the Spanish language in Buenos Aires, we offer a variety of Spanish language programs in Argentina with year-round start dates: Spanish semester programs, a quarter abroad in Argentina; and a variety of Short-Term Sessions such as the J-Term in Argentina and Maymester in Argentina. Each of our Spanish language programs are taught at the University of Belgrano, one of the most well-known private universities in Latin America. Students will take intensive Spanish lessons in combination with weekly cultural activities, workshops with locals outside of the classroom on topics from polo to photography, weekend excursions, and the option of living with a local family or local students.
Students taking a Spanish semester, quarter abroad, January term, or Maymester in Buenos Aires will be in classes at the Unviersidad de Belgrano that will cater to each student level and ability and Expanish activities and excursions offers excellent ways for students to continue their studies outside of the classroom. Spanish classes are given in groups of generally ten or less students (max. 15) allowing students to develop a good learning relationship with their teacher and conversation time to improve their Spanish verbal skills.
Argentina is a very affordable destination for most foreign currencies allowing students who take a Spanish semester or quarter abroad in Argentina, January term in Argentina or Maymester in Argentina to indulge in all the amazing things this country has to offer.

Eligibility
Our Spanish semesters and quarters abroad in Argentina, January term in Argentina, and Maymester in Argentina are available for people of all ages and nationalities. If a current undergraduate, U.S students are required to have a minimum accumulative 2.5 GPA, and students of all other nationalities can submit their course marks to be evaluated on a similar scale.

Housing
At Expanish we realize accommodation is one of the most important elements in any study abroad experience. Our students on our Spanish language programs, such as a Spanish semester, a quarter abroad in Argentina, January term in Argentina, or Maymester in Argentina will have three accommodation options to choose from that all provide a comfortable and cultural atmosphere in the city of Buenos Aires.
Through the homestay or shared apartment, students in our Spanish language programs such as the Spanish semesters and quarters abroad in Buenos Aires, January term in Buenos Aires, or Maymester in Buenos Aires will be able better immerse themselves in the language, city, and culture of Argentina. Through the help of their hosts, students will be able to discover Buenos Aires in the most intimate way, using the hosts’ resources about life in Buenos Aires and the Spanish language as well as become involved in their social networks.

Volunteer
During a Spanish semester or quarter abroad in Argentina, January term in Argentina, or Maymester in Argentina, students can combine their studies with a volunteer placement in Buenos Aires. Students are able to choose from several volunteer organizations that include volunteer activities such as community development and education, assistance in teaching English, and marketing and project and program development.
This is a great way for students in our Spanish semester and quarter abroad in Buenos Aires, January term in Buenos Aires, or Maymester in Buenos Aires to improve their Spanish through direct interaction and to give back to the community in which they are immersed.

Intern
Internships are available for students who are taking eight weeks or more of a Spanish semester or quarter abroad in Argentina, January term in Argentina, or Maymester in Argentina. Combining an internship with a Spanish language program gives students the chance to practice Spanish in and out of the classroom and to use it in the most practical of situations.
Students in a semester or quarter abroad in Buenos Aires, January term in Buenos Aires, or Maymester in Buenos Aires who choose to take an internship are required to have a high-intermediate level of Spanish and to pay a one time placement fee.

Activities & Workshops
Expanish offers its students taking a Spanish language program such as a Spanish semester, quarter abroad in Argentina, January term in Argentina, or Maymester in Argentina, weekly activities and workshops in order to supplement their study abroad program. Activities and workshops are a great way for students taking a Spanish language program in Buenos Aires to take their Spanish classes out of the classroom, learn more about the culture, acquire new skills, and practice the Spanish language with locals and foreigner students from around the world.
Activities: Students in a Spanish semester or quarter abroad in Buenos Aires, January term in Buenos Aires, or Maymester in Buenos Aires can participate in any of our activities, offered 4-5 times a week. All activities take place in the afternoons or evenings allowing students to focus on their studies and then join us in their free time. Activities are offered free of charge or at a low cost, such as entrance fees or meal costs. Students in our Spanish language programs are able to participate in the following: weekly staff and student dinners; weekly fútbol games; day trips to Tigre; local concerts; asados (Argentine barbeque); tango shows and classes; museum and exhibit visits; artisan fairs; weekly cultural city tours.
Workshops: Expanish offers its Spanish semester or quarter abroad in Buenos Aires, January term in Buenos Aires, and Maymester in Buenos Aires students a myriad of workshop options including cooking classes, wine tasting, tango classes, polo lessons, and fileteado painting. Each workshop comes in packages of 2, 4, or 8 classes and can be reserved upon arrival. Combing workshops with a study abroad program is the most fun and effective way to learn and practice Spanish, acquire new skills, and interact with locals and other foreigners.

Program Excursions
Students taking our semester or quarter abroad in Argentina, January term in Argentina, or Maymester in Argentina are invited to participate in our exciting, culturally and language rich excursions to cities and areas throughout Argentina. An Expanish trip coordinator goes along on each excursion to provide students with an insiders perspective and knowledge about the area, cultural, and history.
Here are the included weekend excursion destinations Expanish offers students in our Spanish language programs in Argentina to discover: Colonia, Uruguay; Iguazú Falls, Argentina; Mendoza, Argentina; and a day at an estancia, Argentina.

Host University
Universidad de Belgrano
The Universidad de Belgrano is a private university founded in 1964 with an enduring tradition of high academic standards as one of the top schools in Argentina. Classes are taught by native professors in a wide variety of subjects from art history to business, and the majority of professors are trained in instructing students who speak Spanish as a second language. Students enrolled in a Spanish semester or quarter abroad in Buenos Aires, January term in Buenos Aires, or Maymester in Buenos Aires will have access to the UB library, bookstore, study areas, restaurants, computer labs, athletic events, and cultural activities. Located in the illustrious and safe neighborhood of Belgrano, students are within walking distance of some of the city’s best dining and cultural activities and only a subway ride away from the shopping of Palermo and the downtown Microcentro district.

Scholarships
Expanish believes that any study of a language should involve a study and travel abroad experience in order for the learner to truly immerse themselves in that language and the surrounding culture. In order to help our students who take a Spanish semester or quarter abroad in Argentina, a January term in Argentina, or a Maymester in Argentina with financial aid, we work with each student’s home institution to assist with the financial aid process.

What’s Included

Application deadlines are sixty (60) days before program start date for all Spanish semester programs, quarter abroad in Argentina; and Short-Term Spanish Language Sessions such as the J-Term in Argentina and Maymester in Argentina. Applications received between sixty (60) days and seven (7) days before Spanish semester programs, quarter abroad in Argentina; and Short-Term Spanish Language Sessions such as the J-Term in Argentina and Maymester in Buenos Aires start dates will be evaluated on a case-by case basis.
